Students Move Into Residence

BrightStone is proud to introduce a new residential program! These homes have been a long-term vision for BrightStone since we first began, and we could not be more thrilled to see them become a reality on our Land of Dreams campus. The homes will provide life-long solutions for adults with IDD, and families seeking help for their loved ones when they are no longer able to care for them.
The Residential Program currently has two homes that will house eight adults total with intellectual disabilities, licensed through the State of Tennessee Department of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (DIDD). The first two residential homes are completed and will open as part of Phase 1 of our Capital Campaign, with future homes built in additional phases.
Each home will house four residents and a live-in home manager. Each resident has their own bedroom. There are common living, dining, and outdoor areas. The home also includes living quarters for the home managers and weekend home managers. Students are able to exercise their independent living skills while also having the support of their home managers, who will also ensure students have the opportunity to remain active in the community by leading the residents on social outings together.
The first residents of the men’s Ferrell Home moved into their new home in April of this year. The residents of the women’s home, The Craig Home, will begin moving in this summer.
