About the Event
In 2012 and at the age of 63, BrightStone lost a dear friend, Jim Hinton. Jim was a board member, devoted father and husband, an avid golfer, and a long-time caring and compassionate supporter of BrightStone.
To honor his memory BrightStone renamed its annual golf benefit to “The Jim Hinton Memorial Golf Benefit.”
As BrightStone's most established fundraising event, the Jim Hinton Memorial Golf Benefit attracts approximately 50 golfers each year--small enough to be enjoyable yet large enough to be very successful, raising as much as $150,000 to fund BrightStone's programs and services!
The success of the benefit depends on the fundraising efforts of golfers and their fundraising support partners. Golfers do not “pay to play.” Rather, they diligently seek donors and sponsors in their efforts to raise at least $3,000 per golfer - thankfully, most reach or surpass this goal!
As golfers and support partners reach out to their network of friends, family, co-workers and business contacts to raise money, they acquaint people with the important mission of BrightStone, volunteer opportunities, and give people they know an opportunity to support BrightStone. The event is quite competitive and these dedicated golfers and support partners are some of BrightStone's most loyal friends!
