In 2012, BrightStone lost a dear friend–our Board Chair, avid golf supporter and long-term friend, Jim Hinton. At that time, we renamed our Golf Benefit to the BrightStone Jim Hinton Memorial Golf Benefit. As BrightStone’s most established fundraising event, the Golf Benefit attracts approximately 40 to 50 golfers each year–small enough to be most enjoyable, but large enough to be very successful! The success depends on the fundraising efforts of golfers and support partners. Golfers do not “pay to play,” but more importantly they diligently seek donors and sponsors to support their efforts. Each golfer commits to raise $3,000 and many do so with the help of support partners. As the golfers and support partners reach out to friends and family to raise money, they acquaint many people with the mission of BrightStone. Quite competitive, and quite successful, these dedicated supporters are some of BrightStone’s most loyal friends! Each year our wonderful golfers gather at The Governor’s Club and experience the beauty of fall, the fun of golf, and the pride in knowing that they have helped make lives better for the adults at BrightStone.
